Tulip vases by Heinen Delft Blue

Heinen Delfts Blauw has both beautiful traditional and beautiful modern tulip vases in its collection. Through the centuries, the tulip vase has remained a beloved showpiece, partly thanks to the striking and special history of the tulip vase. This made its appearance almost simultaneously with the trade in tulip bulbs. In the sixteenth century, both the tulip and the tulip vase were part of goods for the well-to-do bourgeoisie, royal houses and other wealthy people. For real Dutch people, a tulip vase cannot be missing in a home. Both with and without tulips, the tulip vase is a real asset. Moreover, a bunch of fresh tulips provides extra color, with which you can easily bring spring into your home!

Delft Blue tulip vases – tradition and origin

The tulip vase is an invention of the English princess Mary Stuart, who was married to stadholder-king William III. Mary Stuart wanted to have fresh flowers in her home and therefore invented the typical pyramid-shaped vase with different spouts, in which tulips could be put. Since tulip bulbs were even more precious than Delft Blue porcelain, the tulip vase was then used as a showpiece to show how wealthy someone was. Even after the value of tulip bulbs fell, the tulip vase has remained popular. And at Heinen, the traditional tulip vase has now been provided with a modern variant, whereby the three-part stackable tulip vase can be assembled according to your own taste. In this way, history and the current trend are merged into a unique whole with its own story!
